The new Bruce Banner has let slip that perhaps Marvel's got bigger plans for the Jolly Green Giant beyond Joss Whedon's Avengers movie.

In an interview with Empire magazine, Ruffalo held forth on his, and the Hulk's, role in the Marvel movie machine:

"They set up several pictures over a couple of years [like Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger] ... possibly there will be a Hulk movie. There'll probably be a couple more Avengers too, which would be fun."

As for the rather public way he got the role, taking over for Edward Norton, who left under, shall we say, financially stressful conditions, Ruffalo had this to say:

"The way I see it, Edward Norton has bequeathed this role to me. I reckon the part is my generation's Hamlet, and there's still some room for interpreting who The Hulk is."

If Sony can reboot Spider-Man so soon after the Sam Raimi-Tobey Maguire trilogy swung off into the sunset, who's to say that audiences aren't ready for two Bruce Banner-centric flicks in twice as many years?
