The Oscar nominee seems to have reached a point in his career where candor can't hurt him anymore. First he unleashed on the crappiness of M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, and now he reveals what went wrong with Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes.
While promoting his new movie Contraband, Walhberg was asked about Rise of the Planet of the Apes and, given his history with the Apes franchise, whether he'd seen the latest attempt at a reboot:
"I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it was pretty damn good. Well, ours wasn't. It is what it is. Ours wasn't. ... They didn't have the script right. [Fox] had a release date before [Tim Burton] had shot a foot of film. They were pushing him and pushing him in the wrong direction. You have got to let Tim do his thing."
Here's the entire interview, in which Wahlberg also reveals that, despite the finished product, working with Burton was a blast:
Oh, honesty ... you rare and beautiful flower.
