Cool and unexpected news comes to us today from the camp of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

According to Twitchfilm, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman are all apparently part of the cast of the J.J. Abrams-directed film. And just who are these men? They are the extraordinary -- no, make that jaw-droppingly awesome -- actors and martial arts fighters from Indonesia who starred in and did the fight choreography for The Raid and The Raid 2, two of the most incredible action films released this decade.

Seriously, if you have not yet seen the excellent The Raid or last year's The Raid 2 -- which, itself, was the most insane explosion of action and violence to hit a movie screen in 2014 -- you owe it to yourself to check them both out. Uwais was the lead in both films, while Ruhian played a different role in each. As for Rahman, he was billed simply as "the Assassin" in The Raid 2 and has a climactic fight in a kitchen with Uwais that is a classic cinematic sequence in its own right (see below and be warned -- it is ultra-violent).

There's no word on the identity of their characters or which side of the Force they work for, but The Wrap reports that one of them will die in the film (the site also noted that a fourth, unnamed member of The Raid 2 team also appears in the movie). And it seems that in addition to acting in the film, they were brought on board specifically to choreograph a fight scene.

Great news as we begin the countdown to Dec. 18, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens everywhere. And while we're waiting, watch The Raid and The Raid 2. You won't be disapppointed.
