We’ve been wondering which direction ABC’s upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff might take, and now we know the first new character who will be joining Mockingbird on her new adventure.

According to TV Line, veteran actor Delroy Lindo (Blood & Oil, The Chicago Code) has signed on to play the comic character Dominic Fortune in the new spinoff series Marvel’s Most Wanted. The series will apparently star Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lane Hunter (Nick Blood) as they strike out on their own (currently unknown) mission.

As for Fortune, the character first appeared in 1975’s Marvel Preview #2, in a story by Howard Chaykin. In the comics, the character is described as an “adventure-seeking rogue” who “craved wealth and excitement with his globe-trotting odysseys.” Considering the spinoff will apparently follow Mockingbird and Hunter as they go on the run, a globe-trotting adventurer could definitely fit into the mix.

It’s also worth noting that Fortune is the first character to join the series, outside of the flagship players shifting over from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so it stands to reason he could be a fairly important character (at least in the pilot, if not the series as a whole).

How do you think Fortune will fit into the world of Most Wanted?
