Marvel Entertainment has added a veteran genre actor to the cast of their New Warriors superhero series on Freeform.
Keith David (The Thing, They Live, Community, to name just a few) has come on board the Marvel project (the network has ordered ten 30-minute episodes) as Ernest Vigman, a “caustic municipal employee” whose personality is said to clash with “the hopeful energy of the new warriors.”
Now, this is some great news right here, since A) David's a pretty great actor and B) he's no stranger to the world of comics, having lent his pipes to several Marvel and DC Comics superhero properties over the years (including Spawn). He was most recently the voice of Solovar on The CW’s Flash.
David is joining a cast that includes: Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) as Doreen Green, aka Squirrel Girl; Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal; Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher; Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally) as Robbie Baldwin/Speedball; Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls) as Zack Smith/Microbe; and Kate Comer (The Comeback) as Deborah Fields, aka Debrii.
Here's the official synopsis:
"Marvel’s New Warriors is about six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world… Even if the world isn’t ready. Not quite super, not yet heroes, Marvel’s New Warriors is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates."
Marvel’s New Warriors is slated to air in 2018 on Freeform. Are you excited about Keith David joining the cast?
