Marvel's latest foray into the small screen has proved worthwhile, as the superhero teen drama Marvel's Cloak & Dagger just scored a second-season renewal.
It was announced today at San Diego Comic-Con, which Marvel's TV head Jeph Loeb called "the nexus of the universe," that Marvel's Cloak & Dagger will be returning with another 10 episodes to the Freeform network.
No dates have been announced yet, but Loeb told the crowd that they'd be returning to production this fall and "will be back sooner than you think."
While details were scarce about where the next season will take its characters, it does give the show a chance to further explore its connections to other Marvel series. When asked if Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) may be crossing paths with Hulu's Runaways, Loeb and showrunner Joe Pokaski said to simply "wait and see."
Given that Pokaski's been lobbying for a crossover for months now, this does make it seem like a real possibility.
Panel attendees also got a special sneak peek at the final two episodes of Season 1, in which Tandy and Tyrone face their shared destiny as "The Divine Pairing." Together, they'll test the limits of their powers as they fight to save their city.
Cloak & Dagger, which debuted in June of this year, has proven to be a hit for the Freeform network, clocking in as their most-watched series in roughly two-and-a-half years. It's also become something of a social media darling, thanks to the show's diehard fanbase.
