With the massive comic storyline set to make the transition from page to screen next year, Marvel Comics has announced plans for a sequel to the Civil War arc to hit at about the same time — so look for the All New, All Different universe to get ripped back apart.

The publisher has announced that Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez will serve as the creative team for the sequel arc, and Bendis teased that they’re coming up with a story they believe will be “worthy of the title.” Here's hoping it's not quite as muddled as the original. No word on exactly what might divide Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but Tom Brevoort, editor of both series, noted it will be both different and familiar from the original 2006 comic event:

“The fun thing about CIVIL WAR [was] that the issues involved not only divided the heroes, they also divided the fans, to say nothing of the creative people. The attempt was to craft the conflict so that each side held a valid and defensible position, so that a reader could fundamentally agree with either one side or the other, with neither being painted as absolutely right or absolutely wrong. While the issues involved are different, we’ll be taking the same approach to CIVIL WAR II.”

We’d try to wager some theories at what, exactly, might precipitate this next Civil War — but — we’re only a few issues into the new-look Marvel Universe, so it’s hard to make any guesses this early in the game. Maybe the newly handsome and mysterious Doctor Doom will play a role? Who knows? It’s worth noting that Sam Wilson’s Captain America will be taking the place of Steve Rogers this time around, though we’d imagine that’s still Tony Stark in the suit of armor.

Though they’ll apparently be at odds by next year, the two heroes seem to be the best of pals in Marvel’s All New, All Different Avengers ‘book. Can't we all just get along?

What do you think of a new Civil War? Any guesses on the plot?
