As Marvel's slate of comic book blockbusters gets ever more ambitious, we can't help but wonder what they might bring to the big screen in the coming years. With Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy already in the pipeline, what flick could be next? Well, now we're talking Luke Cage. We're talking Iron Fist. We're talking Heroes for Hire.

As Bleeding Cool's Rich Johnston noted yesterday, it's very possible that a new Heroes for Hire comic could be headed our way this year, and it could be written by Brian Michael Bendis, one of Marvel's most prominent writers. That's not all that surprising. After all, Marvel's still rolling out new titles in its Marvel NOW! relaunch, so another team-up of Iron Fist, Luke Cage and their respective allies seems like a good fit.

But that's not all the news. On the film side of things, we have Marvel TV mogul Jeph Loeb, who said in a recent interview that the Heroes for Hire could be going the same route as the Guardians of the Galaxy: to the movies.

"Just like we just announced Guardians of the Galaxy, we are certainly looking at the Heroes for Hire franchise which is Luke Cage and Iron Fist," Loeb said.

Heroes for Hire has been an on-and-off part of the Marvel Universe since 1978, when the impenetrable-skinned, super-strong Harlem hero Luke Cage first teamed up with kung fu billionaire Iron Fist to take on heroic jobs for a price. Both heroes have remained Marvel mainstays, and have recently played important roles in the adventures of the Avengers.

So is Heroes for Hire the next big Marvel movie? If so, we're in for a cool buddy superhero action romp. Time to start your dream cast list.
