On Marvel legend Stan Lee’s birthday, geeks around the world are paying their respects to the late comic kingpin. Lee would’ve been 96 today, Dec. 28, as one of his final cameos resonates loudly in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (which is still roaring through theaters) and as fans look forward to the upcoming MCU cameos that he filmed before his death.

The comic publisher that served as his longtime home was one of the first to honor the late icon. Almost exactly a month after his death, the official Marvel account tweeted out “Happy Birthday, Stan. Thank you for everything,” showing off Lee in a black-and-white sketch — a perfect medium for the prolific comic creator:

In addition to the company whose name he helped make, tributes flew in from Stan Lee’s official account, Into the Spider-Verse’s Phil Lord, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo, supernerd Kevin Smith, comic creator Rob Liefeld, and those behind the PS4’s Spider-Man game.

Check them out:

Each pays homage to the comic legend in their own way, some even suggesting that Lee’s birthday should be a national holiday. And who are we to argue with that?
