Earlier this year, Marvel legend Stan Lee’s lawyer emphatically denied allegations that he had behaved in an inappropriate or sexual manner towards his former nurses. Now, only days before Avengers: Infinity War is set to debut in theaters, Lee has been hit with a sexual misconduct lawsuit from a massage therapist.
Via The Wrap, Maria Carballo’s suit claims that the incident took place in 2017 when she was scheduled to give Lee massage therapy in his suite at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Chicago. According to Carballo, there were two separate incidents.
In the first occurrence, Carballo indicated that she became uncomfortable with Lee’s actions and responses before ending his massage early. After an apology was relayed through Carballo’s employer, she agreed to return the next day for a follow-up session. However, Carballo’s claim alleges that Lee behaved in an even more egregious manner and initially refused to let her leave without finishing the massage. She also states that she had to free herself from Lee’s grip before she promptly left the room.
Carballo’s lawsuit is asking for a judgment “in excess of $50,000, plus an award of punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees and costs, as permitted under the statute.” She also formally accuses Lee of battery and assault.
SYFY WIRE has reached out to Lee’s representatives for comment, but we have not received a response at this time. Keya Morgan, one of Lee’s business associates, issued a denial through TMZ. “Stan Lee is 95 years old, completely harmless, and is 100% innocent, and denies any such false accusations."
