It's still a good time to be a Luke Cage fan.

After a hit Netflix series and an acclaimed new Power Man and Iron Fist comic last year, the Harlem hero will triumph again in 2017 with appearances in The Defenders Netflix series and a new Defenders comic book series. Now, he's also getting a new solo comic.

Marvel announced this week that writer David F. Walker (Power Man and Iron Fist) and artist Nelson Blake II (Romulus) will launch Luke Cage with a brand-new first issue this May. The new series will take Cage away from his New York home and drop him into New Orleans, where he'll investigate the death of his mentor and the man who gave him his powers, Dr. Noah Burstein.

"This is all about Luke finding trouble and busting heads," Walker said in a interview. "The first story is about him dealing with the death of an old friend and finding out there's more to the death than meets the eye. Luke is definitely in the role of the private detective; he just happens to have super powers."

Walker also teased that while we'll eventually see old friends join up with Luke's adventures, for now it's key to leave him alone in a new city with only his powers and his wits. So, get ready for a different kind of Luke Cage comic when the first issue hits shops in May and check out the first cover by Rahzzah below.
