New York Comic Con is giving San Diego a run for its money. Marvel pulled out all the stops for today's panels with one surprise after another. Following the introduction of Iron Fist, the studio kicked things up a notch by bringing out the Defenders! Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) were all together for the first time.

Who would be strong enough to take on this superhuman quartet? Sigourney Weaver, that's who! The legendary actress has officially joined the Marvel Universe as The Defenders' foe.

“Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” said Jeph Loeb, executive producer and Head of Marvel Television.

Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, chimed in, “She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn.”

Unfortunately, they're keeping Weaver's character identity under wraps.  She's described as having “a significant but unspecified role.”

What do you think about Weaver as The Defenders villain? Who should she play?
