The Internet's been buzzing all day with news about Marvel's upcoming Thor sequel. For the most part, the story for Thor 2 has been kept under wraps—but Marvel's head honcho Kevin Feige has spilled the beans about a few plot points.

This past summer, Thor grossed more than $400 million at the worldwide box office, so no one's surprised that Marvel wants to capitalize on its success. The first film established Thor as a character, gave him relationships and left us with an open ending. So what happens next?

Kevin Feige told EW:

"[We're going to] take Thor literally to other worlds. ... [It will] primarily be the journey of that character, of he and Jane Foster and how the new dynamic with his father is working out, as well as what are the broader stakes for The Nine Worlds."
The idea of exploring the Nine Worlds and the danger among them seems like a major CGI-fest waiting to happen. Asgard itself was a shiny yet beautiful undertaking. We can only imagine what the SFX team will do for Vanaheim, Alfheim, Nidavellir and the others.

On a side note, earlier today it was revealed that Patty Jenkins is in talks to direct Thor 2. She's best known for directing Charlize Theron's Oscar-winning performance in Monster and the pilot episode of AMC's The Killing. Nothing has been confirmed as yet, but we're keeping a close eye on the story.

Thor 2 is scheduled to hit theaters July 26, 2013.
