Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series finale just made a lot of fans very happy

After seven seasons and plenty of space-and-time-defying world-saving, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have finally earned their long-awaited retirements — not that everyone opted to go that route.

The journey up until this point has been long and full of twists for the team at the heart of the MCU-adjacent show, but this final season threw the wildest curveball of all into the mix in the form of time travel. Season 7 saw the arrival of Chronicoms, high-tech aliens intent on sabotaging the time stream so they can take over Earth, which in turn led to some classic time jumping as the team set off in pursuit of them.

This latest wrench in the Framework allowed a few familiar bad guys to once again show up on our screens — including younger versions of Gideon Malik (Cameron Palatas) and John Garett (James Paxton stepping in for his late father, Bill). It also brought us a beloved character from a sister show in the form of Agent Carter's Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj), and caused a fan-favorite to remain off-screen, with Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) in a secret location monitoring these alien threats in real time.

Now that the series is officially over (check out our recap!), here's what fans have to say about the final two hours, and what became of their favorites:

Castmember Natalia Cordova perhaps summed it up best though...
