Marvel's Black Panther goes roaring across the $1B worldwide mark in another record weekend

The juggernaut that is Black Panther continues to break records and sails past the worldwide $1 billion mark in only 26 days, making it the fifth Marvel film to break a billion dollars, joining The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War.

The $531 million the film has made domestically makes it the top-grossing movie of 2018 and ninth overall, but given the film's trajectory, it should overcome both 2017's Beauty and the Beast and The Dark Knight within the next week, and then it's challenging Star Wars: The Last Jedi's domestic gross of $619 million.

The film is currently at $419 million in foreign markets, but those numbers could jump, as Black Panther opened in China this weekend with a $20 million first day.

In other words, Black Panther is ruling the box office and, if things keep going the way they're going, we may see T'Challa ruling more than just Wakanda.
