Almost a year after production first began in New Orleans, Marvel has released a teaser for their upcoming straight-to-series order, Cloak & Dagger, set to air on Freeform this summer.
The three-and-a-half minute clip introduces us to titular characters Cloak, aka Tyrone Johnson (played by The Night Of’s Aubrey Joseph) and Dagger, aka Olivia Holt (played by former Disney star Tandy Bowen) as they have a meet-cute gone wrong after a spilled drink, followed by a heated chase.
Set to a hip-hop soundtrack, the very brief glimpse into the series hints at a too-cool-for-school vibe, with some brimming chemistry between the two leads.
You can watch the clip for the show here:
Based on the Marvel Comics characters, the story centers around the two teenagers who develop their superpowers while forming a romantic relationship together. As they get closer, the pair realize that their powers get even stronger when they are together, but that doesn’t always work so well when it comes to young love. (Let’s just say we’d hate to be caught between them in a heated argument, just judging by the clip alone.)
There’ll be plenty of fireworks between the pair, too. The show's official description notes that Tandy (Dagger) is the typically good-girl-gone bad, after she witnesses her family get wiped out by a disastrous storm. Meanwhile Tyrone (Cloak) has also had to suffer losing things around that he once held close, and has begun living a more sheltered life, shutting himself off from society. That is, until he meets Tandy and the pair share a life-changing event.
The two-hour premiere of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger takes place on June 7 on Freeform. Are you excited about the latest Marvel TV show? Let us know in the comments below.
