With no word in the months since Jessica Jones’ debut, fans were starting to worry it meant we wouldn’t get a second season of the hit Netflix series. Well, Marvel has some good news.

The studio has announced a second season of Jessica Jones is officially on the way, with Krysten Ritter set to reprise her breakout role as the hard-living former superhero trying to reinvent herself as a private eye. Marvel made the announcement at the Television Critics Association this weekend. The first season was fantastic, and apparently performed pretty well as far as ratings are concerned, so it’s great to see Marvel and Netflix pull the trigger.

So, what can we expect for Season 2? Marvel TV ’s Jeph Loeb told USA Today they’re still trying to put a plan together for where Jessica will go next, considering her clash with Kilgrave (David Tennant) defined so much of the narrative in Year 1. There's no denying the first season will definitely be hard to top, but considering where the story left Jessica in that final scene, the options are seemingly endless. Sadly, no word yet on which supporting cast members will (or won’t) be back.

“Marvel is thrilled to be working with NETFLIX for a second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” said Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb. “The positive response to Jessica’s story from fans all over the world has been overwhelming and we look forward to diving even deeper into these characters and this world."

The Jessica Jones news continues the string of hits for Marvel and Netflix, following the critical success and renewal of Daredevil, along with buzz that a spinoff starring Jon Bernthal’s Punisher could also be in the early stages of development. Of course, we also have Luke Cage shooting and an Iron Fist show on the way — all leading up to the team-up miniseries The Defenders. Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos teased we could have to wait until 2017 for Jessica's return, due to the scheduling issues surrounding Defenders. Le sigh.

Where would you like to see Jessica Jones go next? Can this show be as great without Tennant’s Kilgrave?
