SPOILER WARNING: Star Wars: Captain Phasma spoilers below, proceed with caution.
The Star Wars news just keeps coming. This time, it's from the Star Wars comic universe, fresh from the pages of Marvel's Star Wars: Captain Phasma, the first issue of which was released today as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
We know that Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) will appear in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which means there are still some dangling questions about her fate since the last time we saw her, supposedly being tossed down a trash chute in The Force Awakens.
Well, it looks like Han forgot the most important lesson about people in trash compactors: make sure they get compacted. Of course, he had other things on his mind, and from events revealed in Marvel's Star Wars: Captain Phasma, Phasma's got both the tech and know-how to get out of the compactor, and off Starkiller Base before the explosion.
From what my fellow SYFY WIRE writer Lucas Siegel and I could ascertain, we're thinking there was a thermal detonator involved. That wall is melted and blown outward. As to how she managed the rest of the escape, you'll have to read the comic.
Of course, I did mention a special reveal, so if you've come this far, you probably want to know.
Yep. It's everyone's new favorite BB unit, BB-9E. Given that this little droid was featured prominently in the Force Friday releases, we're thinking he's Phasma's new little buddy. Of course, we'll have to wait for the other three issues in this limited run to find out more.
Is it December yet?
