Just in time for Halloween, here’s your chance to get it right where Thor didn’t. Make this Thanos-headed Halloween jack-o-lantern, and when the calendar flips over to November, it’ll be ripe and ready to be on the receiving end of your own Groot-handled Stormbreaker.
Marvel has just released a fun video tutorial that takes you step-by-step through the process of starting with nothing more than a stencil, some cutting tools, and a fresh-from-the-patch pumpkin — and ending up with a Halloween talisman that’ll beat the Infinity Gauntlet off of whatever’s sitting on your neighbor’s porch this year.

Sure, we could quibble and argue about how lifelike Marvel’s pumpkined-up version of Thanos actually looks, but his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War is but one of many looks the Mad Titan has sported through the comics — so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt, shall we?
If you’ve never done anything this ambitious with a pumpkin before, Marvel offers a few basic tips: Pick a pumpkin with a flat surface, take your time before making the first cut to sketch everything out, and be sure to set aside enough time to finish the whole thing in one session — especially once the gourd flesh starts flying. Marvel estimates this’ll take about an hour to complete — though your mileage may vary.
To make things super-easy, Marvel also provides a full-scale stencil to get you started, which you can download here. If you’re so inclined, take a cue from the clip and break out the purple paint, just to complete the look.
But while we’re at it, why stop at Thanos? There are plenty of haunting and literally Daredevil-ish characters in the Marvel pantheon just begging to be given the full Martha Stewart treatment — for a few days, anyway — on the fleeting surface of fall’s favorite fruit. What comics character ranks at the top of your Halloween carving agenda? Let us know what you’d come up with in the comments — and then, by all means, go on and try this at home!
