Fans Megan Cota and Steven Keller were cosplaying Jack and Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect video game series at Phoenix Comicon 2017, because that’s exactly what awesome looks like. But it wasn’t just fun and photoshoots. It turns out that Keller had a grander plan in mind for them.

With the foreknowledge of photographer Tony Julius, who kept snapping away, Keller proposed to Cota, his girlfriend of over four years. And now she’s his fiancee.

According to The Geek Lyfe, the words that won her over: “Megan Cota, it’s been a Fury Road dating you, and I’d be a hypocrite if I can love a psychotic girl in a video game but not in real life. Megan, will you be my always?”

Her response: “Are you serious, is that real?”

We’ve seen geeky proposals at conventions before, but it’s never been captured in photography as beautifully as Julius’ work. But it’s not surprising. When he’s not doing cosplay photography, he snaps weddings.
