Elysium is still in theaters, but Matt Damon's already booked his next sci-fi project.
The Playlist is reporting that Damon has signed on for a role in Christopher Nolan's mysterious new film Interstellar, though the role will be at least somewhat small. Apparently he'll only be heading to Iceland to shoot for two weeks out of a reported four months of Interstellar principal photography. Still, that seems like enough time to make his mark on the flick, which already boasts a star-studded cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Case Affleck, Wes Bentley and Ellen Burstyn.
As with pretty much every character in the film, we don't know anything at all about who Damon's playing, as Nolan is playing all those details close to the vest. Here's the film's brief official synopsis:
"The plot of Interstellar takes a group of scientists through a wormhole into another dimension. From there, we are taken on a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest borders of our scientific understanding."
The film is set to be released on Nov. 7, 2014. What do you think? Is this flick shaping up to be for hardcore sci-fi films what The Dark Knight was for superhero films?
