Matt Smith says his Doctor will be 'attracted' to new Who companion

The dynamic between a Doctor and his companion sets the tone for each series of Doctor Who, and Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith says his connection with the new companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman will have a very different vibe when she shows up this Christmas.

The biggest change? Smith says he'll have a whole new attitude once he starts zooming around in the TARDIS with Coleman, though the loss of the Ponds will still linger.

Luckily, The Doctor will soon be zipping around the universe with a cool "hot chick."

He told the Radio Times:

"What's interesting with a new companion is that it changes the way he is and affects his personality. I think, in one way or another, the Doctor is always attracted to his companion and he's certainly taken by this striking young lady...

The fall of the Ponds had a grave effect on the man. I think he's quite lonely and removed from the universe and not really as engaged as he was, at his best with Amy and Rory.

Handily, he meets a jaunty new companion, a hot chick..."

We all love the Ponds, but it could be a nice change of pace to see the Doctor start a new phase of his life once the new companion is (officially) introduced this holiday season.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the post-Pond era?
