On this day, over many years, some pretty epic science fiction movies premiered. It's rather impressive.

Creature (premiered May 8, 1985) - A ship on its way to a moon of Saturn, parasitic mind control, incredible '80s haircuts and sound effects that recall both Star Wars and old-timey westerns.

Deep Impact (premiered May 8, 1998) - The late '90s and early '00s were a real hey-day of disaster movies. 1998 gave us Deep Impact (and, a few months later, Armageddon), wherein a national lottery of Americans are going to be put in caves to survive a comet slamming into the Earth.

Star Trek (premiered May 8, 2009) - John Cho and Zoe Saldana and Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto and Leonard Freaking Nimoy. Being amazing. Get into it, team.
