How infinite do you like your Marvel Cinematic Universe? If 24 hours’ (and change) worth of quality theater time with a selection of MCU film favorites sounds like the perfect pregame warmup for the release of Avengers: Infinity War, then a small handful of theaters may have exactly what you need.
To promote the premiere of Marvel's upcoming blocbuster, AMC theaters is planning to replay a curated mega-slice of the MCU back catalog, screening a 12-movie Marvel marathon in select cities, culminating with Infinity War itself.
Two AMC theaters — Times Square's AMC Empire in New York, as well as AMC Disney Springs in Orlando — will sell tickets to the superhero binge session, set to begin on April 25 at 1:30 p.m. local time. The scheduling setup allows AMC to time the marathon to end with official release of Infinity War, which is included in the ticket price and counts as the 12th movie. A third theater, the Disney-affiliated El Capitan in Los Angeles, is also participating.
AMC says the marathon will include the following 12 MCU films :
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War
That means that, while you may not be getting Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or Captain America: The Winter Soldier, at least you’ll hopefully manage to stay awake long enough to take everything in. Stretching the marathon out to include all 18 existing movies in the MCU, plus Infinity War — which already is plenty lengthy — might test the stamina of even the most adrenaline-fueled Marvel fan.
Tickets for the marathon are reportedly set at $75 apiece; at the El Capitan, they’re going for $100. And if you want to get your MCU-a-thon on anywhere outside of New York, Orlando, or Los Angeles, it looks like you’re out of luck. But whether you prefer a dark theater or pizza on the couch, there’s still plenty of time to dive back into Marvel’s movie world and stream or Blu-ray all your favorites ahead of Avengers: Infinity War’s April 27 release.
