Looks like good ol' Obi-Wan might be gaining a daughter in director J.J. Abrams’s upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII flick.
Deadline reports that the Star Wars producers are eyeing an Oxford-trained British actress whose experience seems limited to local stage plays (and only local stage plays; her IMDb page boasts only one short) named Maisie Richardson-Sellers.
According to IGN, and take this with a grain of salt, you guys, the rumors are that the actress could be in line for the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s daughter or granddaughter, and that a black or mixed-race actress in her 20s was being specifically sought out for the role.
Even if filming has begun for Star Wars: Episode VII, we’ve yet to hear some solid, official casting news. A couple of weeks ago, the rumor mill had Girls actor Adam Driver up for the role of the villain in the new Star Wars flick, but nothing concrete came out of it for the moment.
So far, what we DO know is that the film will feature a return to Tattooine, R2-D2 and Chewbacca.
Star Wars: Episode VII will blast into theaters from a galaxy far, far away on Dec. 18, 2015.
