The Guardians of the Galaxy don't even have one film under their belt yet, and they may already be teaming up.
Given that it's the story of a team of cosmic superheroes who spend their time protecting not just one planet but an entire galaxy (hence the name) from evil, we can already expect a rather ambitious landscape for the Guardians flick, but at least one inside source is convinced that the flick will be even bigger than that.
That inside source contacted Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News to let him know that Marvel's cosmic Nova Corps will also be making an appearance in the flick. For those who don't know, the Nova Corps is a kind of galactic militia first introduced to the Marvel Universe back in 1976. It's had several different incarnations since then, but the basic concept is pretty simple: several hundred space-faring warriors, all bound by a power source called the Nova Force, all tasked with protecting either part of or all of the galaxy. As Knowles notes, some fans might have already seen this coming, as the Guardians production art that's been circulating does include star-shaped Nova Corps ships in the background. Plus, Marvel is launching two new comic series, one covering Guardians of the Galaxy and one covering Nova, in the same month. Yeah, it could be just a coincidence, but ...
So, if the source is correct, and all these clues really are pointing in the same direction, that means we're headed for a Marvel Cinematic Universe that now includes the likes of Thanos, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova, not to mention whatever new adversaries and allies might be trotted out in the coming couple of years. Just how big will this get?
