Marvel Comics’ Spider-Gwen series has built its reputation on repurposing and reimagining concepts of the regular Marvel universe, and now we finally get to meet her world’s version of Captain America. Turns out she’s a bit different than what fans might’ve expected.

HitFix has premiered some preview pages from the upcoming issue of Radioactive Spider-Gwen No. 2, which hits stores Nov. 11, and reveals our first look at the Captain America of Gwen’s world. We don’t know her name just yet, but Captain America is a black woman here. Despite the differences, she can still do some major damage when facing off with baddies (in this case, lizards) and Spider-Gwen (oops!).

In case you’re not reading (and if you’re not, you should be), the comic is set in its own little corner of the multiverse. In this world, Gwen Stacy is an indie rocker who gains spider powers instead of Peter Parker. We’ve already met alternate versions of several other characters, but this arguably looks to be one of the most interesting. We can’t wait to get a peek at the rest of this faceoff.
