Starz has released a bunch of new character portraits for the upcoming second season of showrunner Ron D. Moore’s time-traveling (and Golden Globe-nominated) drama series Outlander.
Based on author Diana Gabaldon’s second Outlander novel, Dragonfly in Amber, Season 2 sees Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) arriving in Paris intent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Charles Edward Stuart, aka Bonnie Prince Charlie (Andrew Gower) and hell-bent on stopping the Rising that will destroy the Highlands and the Scots’ way of life, thanks to Claire's knowledge of the future.
While entertaining the cream of the crop in Paris and navigating the treacherous waters of 18th-century French politics as they stroll the grounds and corridors of Versailles, Jamie and Claire will meet a whole new cast of characters, including Louise de Rohan (Claire Sermonne), Charles Edwart Stuart (Gower), Mary Hawkins (Rosie Day), King Louis XV (Lionel Lingelser) and the show's new Season 2 villain Le Comte St. Germain (Stanley Weber). Those are the ones whose promo pics have been revealed, but no doubt there will be more to come. And don’t worry, some of your Season 1 favorites will also return for the show's sophomore season.
Check out the gallery of character portraits portraits below, and drink in those AMAZING costumes designed by Terry Dresbach and her team. Look at the lace! The embroidery! The fabric! The powdered wigs! Yep, I'm in heaven.
