The second Stephen King series to hit the small screen this summer (Spike’s The Mist debuted last week), Mr. Mercedes will premiere on AT&T Audience Network in August. Ahead of the TV show’s hotly anticipated debut, a batch of new character posters have made their way online.

Based on the master of horror’s 2014 crime thriller, the 10-episode series hails from David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Boston Legal), who will also serve as executive producer. Jack Bender (Lost, Under the Dome) will direct the series, which stars Brendan Gleeson as ex-detective Bill Hodges, and Penny Dreadful's Harry Treadaway, who looks positively creepy as crazed serial killer Brady Hartsfield.

Also starring are Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight) as Jerome Robinson, Scott Lawrence (Avatar) as Detective Peter Dixon, Robert Stanton (Mercury Rising) as Anthony “Robi” Frobisher, Ann Cusack (Nightcrawler) as Olivia Trelawney, Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) as Janey Patterson and Holland Taylor (The Truman Show) as Ida Silver, with Kelly Lynch (Magic City) as Deborah Hartsfield, Justine Lupe (Madam Secretary) as Holly Gibney and Breeda Wool (UnReal) as Lou Linklatter.

“Mr. Mercedes” follows demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Treadaway), who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Mr. Mercedes will premiere on Aug. 9 on the AT&T Audience Network, available to DirecTV subscribers. Check out the gallery below (I don't know about you, but I love just how "atmospheric" these pics look), and chime in with your thoughts!
