The Transformers franchise has long been a beloved children’s cartoon. Dora the Explorer is a beloved younger children’s cartoon. But now these two shows have more in common besides animation and a young audience: Michael Bay.
According to Vulture, the explosion maestro will be producing the upcoming Dora the Explorer movie.
You can see it in your mind, can’t you? Sexy 21-year-old Dora in a pink crop top and orange micro shorts, with a purple talking backpack that doubles as a flamethrower, and oh gods, the box-office totals are already piling up. But, thankfully, that's probably not going to happen. The movie will be written by Michael Stoller, who wrote the PG-rated The Muppets, Storks, and Captain Underpants.
Stoller also wrote the R-rated and raunchy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Get Him to the Greek. But yeah, we're probably not looking to that skill set here.
While on television Dora is a 7-year-old girl, the film will “likely center on a teenage Dora moving to the city to live with her cousin, Diego.”
Here’s hoping for family-friendly fun with just enough sly adult references that sail over children’s heads to keep the grown-ups entertained. And, you know, we'll probably see some explosions, too, we're just guessing.
