We thought we'd finally figured out what Michael Bay was cooking up for Transformers 4 thanks to a recent casting report, and now the explosion maestro himself has responded to the rumor. So what'd he have to say?

After news broke that Mark Wahlberg (Ted, The Happening) was in talks to star as the father of a teenage girl in the latest sequel, Bay took to his personal blog to clear up the confusion.

Basically? Ain't happening. But, they are in talks for some other mystery project (commence guessing ... now).

Here's Bay's brief post:

"The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor.

Mark and I are talking about another film project."

So there you have it, the plot of Transformers 4 officially remains a mystery. We've heard it could focus heavily on the action/military/robot side, and then a recent report (which the Wahlberg rumor fed) implied that a younger girl could be the protagonist, who is joined by her father in all the shenanigans.

But who knows?

What do you think? Were you pulling for Wahlberg to get the role?
