Two new pics from Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed movie have emerged, courtesy of Empire Online.
The new photos show the two characters the X-Men actor will play in the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft’s hit videogame series: The 15th century swordsman and Assassin Aguilar, and Callum Lynch, his modern-day descendant.
Aguilar is a new character not found in any of the previous games, books, or comics, but Ubisoft has confirmed that he and his descendant Callum Lynch will be part of the official canon, which is awesome news for fans of the franchise (like me) who worried that the movie would have nothing to do with the ongoing Assassin's Creed videogame storyline.
From the looks of the first pic above, looks like Aguilar has just managed to escape a fiery death at the hands of those evil Templars while the second photo shows Callum Lynch in a room similar to where Desmond Miles (Lynch’s equivalent in the videogames) stayed while at Abstergo (they even have the scribbling on the walls), reliving his ancestor’s genetic memories with the help of a virtual reality machine called the Animus.
Here's an official synopsis for the upcoming action-adventure, historical movie:
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Also starring Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons, Assassin's Creed will open in movie theaters on Dec. 21, 2016.
