Michael Keaton weighs in on Affleck as the next big-screen Batman

Does the first Batman of the blockbuster age think that the fifth will be able to pull off the role?

The Internet is still very, very sharply divided over whether Ben Affleck was the right choice to don the cape and cowl for Zack Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel sequel, which will mark the first time Superman and Batman have appeared on the big screen together. Some hate the idea, some love it, and others are simply waiting to see the new Dark Knight in action. But what about Keaton?

TMZ managed to catch a few words with Keaton as he was heading to his car Wednesday night, and when asked what he thought of Affleck's casting, he replied simply "He's gonna be great." When asked about the flack Affleck's been catching, Keaton only scoffed and cracked a quick joke before climbing into his car.

You can catch the full exchange between Keaton and TMZ's man on the scene below, but "He's gonna be great" seems to sum it up just fine. Add to that Val Kilmer's tweet from a few days back asking fans to "Give Ben a chance," and it seems Affleck has at least two of his four predecessors on his side.

What do you think? Is Keaton right?
