One of the greatest action franchises (for young adults of a certain age, of course) is coming back to life as a new BOOM! Studios comic. We’ll give you a hint: It’s morphin’ time!

The comic publisher has teamed up with Saban Brands to develop a new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series, which will apparently focus on the original team of heroes from the long-running kids' action series. At this point, we’re not sure if this comic is a continuation or reimagining of the original series, or if it’s more connected to the upcoming big-screen reboot (we’d imagine the former, since the latter is still in development).

Entertainment Weekly confirms the comic is on the way, and also debuted some initial teaser art. The series will be written by DC alum Kyle Higgins (Batman Eternal, Batman Beyond), with art by Daniel Bayliss (Translucid). The #0 issue is set to hit shelves in January 2016, and it’ll also feature a short story written by Mairghread Scott (Transformers: Windblade) that debuted at SDCC. It makes a lot of sense from a content perspective, considering the massive robot vs. monster fights will finally not be limited by an insanely low TV budget.

BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon teased that the series will “focus on authenticity and quality” and hopefully appeal to the “awesome fan base” for the original franchise.
