It's canon now, Peter Parker is Edna Mode from The Incredibles. Why is that? Because in the international extended sneak peek of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Parker (voiced by Jake Johnson) tells Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) that "Spider-Man doesn't wear a cape."
Okay, fine — no capes, but Miles does get a pretty wickedly awesome feature that allows him to turn invisible at a moment's notice. And by the end of the sneak peek, Peter and Miles find themselves in a room of nothing but Spidey outfits, one of which has (you guessed it!) a cape.
Watch it below:
Directed by Bob Persichetti (Puss in Boots), Peter Ramsey (Wrinkle in Time), and Rodney Rothman (Grudge Match), the movie is produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and attempts to recreate the look of a comic book with its uniquely animated aesthetic. The screenplay, based on a story by Lord, was written by Lord and Rothman.
Matching the amount of creative talent behind the directing and animation is the amount of talent in the voice cast. In addition to Moore and Johnson, you've got Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Gwen), Mahershala Ali (Prowler), Liev Schreiber (Kingpin), Luna Lauren Velez (Rio Morales), Lily Tomlin (Aunt May), Brian Tyree Henry (Jefferson Davis), Nicolas Cage (Spider-Man Noir), John Mulaney (Spider-Ham), and Kimiko Glenn (Peni Parker).
We caught the first 35 minutes of the film at New York Comic Con, and they were pretty wild, so you can imagine how excited we are for the rest of the movie, which has already been submitted for the 91st Academy Awards.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse wall-crawls into theaters Dec. 14.
