It’s hard to believe, but The CW’s Supernatural is gearing up for its 12th season this fall — making it one of the longest-running dramas in genre history. So, what should we expect for Season 12?

We caught up with co-star Misha Collins at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) to talk about what the new season will hold for everyone’s favorite angel, Castiel, and he said we can expect a more “bad*ss” version of Cas this year, who has come through the fire of all the terribleness of the past several seasons. But this year, Collins says Cas isn’t “broken” anymore, and is actually looking to fix all the things he’s messed up over the years.

Though the show has had some occasional dips in quality, there’s one thing that keeps fans coming back for decades (apparently): The dynamic between these characters, and there’s no doubt Collins’ Cas has been a key piece of that puzzle. It’ll be nice to see him get some of that early-season confidence back.
