For a show that's supposed to be about two demon-hunting brothers on the road, The CW's Supernatural has grown to include an excellent ensemble cast. Among the best additions? Their angel buddy Castiel (Misha Collins), who has developed into a true fan favorite.
But with the cliffhanger last season, many wondered exactly whether and how he'll be back this season. Potential spoilers for the season-seven finale ahead!
Collins talked to IGN about how the eighth season is coming together, and he offered some assurances to fans worried he may be MIA again this year, after being sidelined for large chunks of season seven:
"I thought at the end of last season, 'Hey, thank God they left me in Purgatory with Dean. I'm definitely going to be significant next season.' Then there was a little back and forth where it wasn't really clear whether I was going to come back at all -- and the way in which I do come back is not at all what I expected. I'll be back much more significantly this season than last."
Though he doesn't know everything about season eight, Collins said the big question about where he disappeared to in the finale will be answered sooner rather than later:
"[T]o be perfectly frank with you, I've only been given hints. I'm not exactly sure how it does play out. But yeah, that lingering question that was a significant part of the cliffhanger -- where the f**k did Castiel go? -- is answered very directly in the second episode. That won't be a hanging chad. We'll know what was going on with that."
Are you a fan of Castiel, or do you wish the new season would focus more on Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles)?
