Michael Bay’s post-apocalyptic action series The Last Ship might’ve wrapped several storylines last season, but there’s still a whole lot more action yet to come.

The network has dropped an explosive (literally) new trailer for Season 3, picking up where the cliffhanger left off and showing off some key plot points to come. The new season will find the enemy faction from last year still causing trouble, while the crew will face a brand-new threat in Asia. Some of the crew also gets captured, launching what looks to be an ambitious rescue mission in the early part of the season.

But don’t think all these side stories mean the central pandemic that drove the narrative from the get-go is over. There’s apparently a new strain of the virus brewing, so that threat will still linger large in Season 3. Of course, this being a Michael Bay series, there will also be guns, fights and explosions galore.

This series started off with a somewhat one-note premise but has evolved into one heck of an ambitious show about the fate of the world itself. From geopolitics to the real questions of how the world can be rebuilt to the semi-sci-fi stuff about stopping a mega-virus, this one has it all.

Season 3 of The Last Ship premieres June 12 on TNT.
