SDCC@Home: Mondo putting a smile on our faces with exclusive Dark Knight and Godzilla posters

By Josh Weiss

San Diego Comic-Con is going totally virtual this year, and while that may bum some people out, Mondo is here to help put a smile back on our faces with three posters that SYFY WIRE is exclusively debuting to the wider geek world.

First up, we have a print inspired by Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance as the Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. Drawn by Oliver Barrett, the 24" x 36" poster (printed up by DL Screenprinting) comes in two iterations: Regular ($50) and Variant ($75).

Why so serious? Introduce a little anarchy and take a look for yourself:

Mondo's second offering is a piece by Attack Peter that pays homage to the 1974 kaiju smackdown that is Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Imparting the mythical aesthetic of an ancient tapestry from feudal Japan, the 20" x 30" linocut poster will run you $100 a pop.

Attack Peter is also taking part in a happy hour/interview with Mondo creative directors Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, and Rob Jones. The live event kicks off Saturday, July 25 at 12:00 p.m. PT. The company's full lineup of panels can be found here.

"2020 is hard, and although we can’t all be in San Diego this July getting lost in the pop culture maelstrom that is Comic Con, that doesn’t mean we can't come together to bring a little madness into your living room, right?" Garza said in a statement. "This year we’re excited to celebrate one of our favorite weeks of the year from the comfort of your own couch. No lines. No achy feet. No con crud."

All three posters will be available to purchase on Mondo's website. The Dark Knight variants drop this Friday (July 24), while the Godzilla artwork becomes available Saturday (July 25).
