Right in time for Halloween, Fox has dropped a creepy new trailer for the revival season of cult hit The X-Files

This trailer gives us a few more peeks at the case of the week stories we’ll see in the six-episode season, and some nice banter between Mulder and Scully. Gosh, it’s great to see them on the screen together again. As has been the case with all these trailers, creator Chris Carter is playing things (very) close to the vest, so don’t expect any revelations to slip out ahead of the show’s January 25, 2016, premiere. But it's nice to see the show should be digging back into a few of those classic, bizzaro cases that made the original run so much fun.

Here’s the official synopsis for the season:

The upcoming event series will encompass a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. The all-new episodes will feature appearances by guest stars, including Joel McHale (“Community”), Robbie Amell (“The Flash”), Lauren Ambrose (“Dig,” “Six Feet Under”), Annabeth Gish (“The Bridge”), Annet Mahendru (“The Americans”), Rhys Darby (“Flight of the Conchords”), Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley”) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man.” Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.
