Check out even more intense footage from one of the best Walking Dead episodes ever.
Though much of season three focused on the conflict between Rick Grimes' people and the Governor's people, "Clear" was a rare and welcome outlier, an episode that featured few characters and a very concentrated emotional framework that drew quite a bit of acclaim after it premiered. Much of the emotion was centered around the return of Morgan Jones (Lennie James), a character we hadn't seen since season one, who's since been driven mad by the death of his son at the hands of his Walker-turned wife. The episode provided plenty of opportunities for James to show off his acting chops, but as this deleted scene reveals, some of his brilliance was left on the cutting-room floor.
The scene is an extended version of a conversation Rick and Morgan have when Morgan is tied up. In the original AMC broadcast of the episode, the scene ends with Morgan declaring that the "weak people" have "inherited the earth," but the scene originally went on a bit further, allowing Morgan to give a more detailed explanation of the episode's title, "Clear." The final cut of the episode leaves the title more ambiguous and open to interpretation, but here Morgan pours his heart out to Rick, and we see what the word "clear" really means to him.
