From the same mastermind (Peter Jackson) that brought the Lord of the Rings to life, Mortal Engines is a steampunk post-dystopia where city-states are huge vehicles and the world is a warring racetrack. Sound crazy? Yeah, it does.
Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) and Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) team up after a crazy run-in in London, then find themselves embroiled in an increasingly complex conflict. But the real draw here is the visuals, of which we have a sneak, inside look.
Take a peek:
We see the feral energy of Shaw, the mechanical energy of London’s pursuit of a smaller town, and the explosive energy of well, tons and tons of explosions. Sign us up. The world looks huge (planes and giant city cars!) and the behind-the-scenes look only makes us aware that part of that world is crash pads and digital monitors. But the magic of filmmaking only makes the wild universe seem more inviting.
Mortal Engines rolls into theaters on December 14.
