Any actor who has wanted fortune and glory and lightsabers has auditioned for Star Wars: The Force Awakens ... even the actors who are fictional robots. This Funny or Die video, below, has leaked the audition tape of Mystery Science Theater 3000’s Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot.

Here, we see Tom Servo auditioning for Kylo Ren (trying to, anyway), while Crow goes straight for BB-8. It goes just about as fabulously bad as you’d expect from the robot pals.

As it turns out, this isn’t just an audition tape. At the end, we see it’s all part of a cunning plan to draw viewers to the MST3K Kickstarter, which will be running until Dec. 12. At the time of writing, MST3K has reached $3.6 million from its initial $2 million. However, creator Joel Hodgson hopes to earn $5.5 million, to produce further episodes.

To sweeten that particular pot, MST3K has recently added actor/comedian Patton Oswalt to its roster, who will join Felicia Day and the snarky robot duo. Unless the two get called up for Star Wars: Rogue One, that is.
