Fans disappointed with the revamped Ghostface mask (that of the series' Lakewood Slasher, as seen in the pic below) used in Seasons 1 and 2 of MTV’s Scream TV series, take heart.
When the show returns for a third season, it will be with a very familiar face. Yeah, you know the one.
MTV has confirmed to SYFY WIRE that the original (and iconic) Ghostface mask used in the Scream movies will make its small-screen debut in the rebooted Season 3 of the horror series next year. I mean rebooted because the show has done away with the previous cast (you can read all about the new characters here) and has even tapped a new showrunner in Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries) to spearhead the six-episode third season.
The news comes hot on the heels of the casting of Scream Queens’ Keke Palmer, with RJ Cyler (Power Rangers), Jessica Sula (Split), Giorgia Whigham (Son of Zorn), Giullian Yao Gioiello (Julie’s Green Room), Tyga (Dope) and C.J. Wallace (Everything Must Go) rounding out the main cast.
I don’t know about you, but I find it somewhat comforting to learn that the original Ghostface mask will make its long-awaited return on the TV series. It's definitely another step in the right direction and brings one of the most iconic visuals from the films to its small-screen counterpart. Here's hoping they do it justice.
Filming on the third season of MTV's Scream is currently underway in Atlanta, and the show is slated to air sometime in March 2018 as a special three-night event. Are you excited by the original Ghostface mask's return?
