Mulder and Scully are back for Season 11 of The X-Files. And while we already know that most of the new episodes are standalone, we're still a little fuzzy on where exactly the duo stands ehm...personally.
In a new promo from FOX, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny try to answer the decades-old question that every X-Files fan (and Agent Skinner) wants to know: What's the deal with Mulder and Scully?!
Earlier this year creator Chris Carter hinted that MSR fans (those who want to see Mulder and Scully involved romantically) would “have something to look forward to” in the upcoming Season 11 which premieres January 3, 2018. But at NYCC, when pressed to DTR (define the relationship), Carter only said they get "kissin' close" in the upcoming season.
In the just-released chat solely meant to discuss where we find the Mulder and Scully relationship in Season 11, the actors waffle between describing the relationship as "friendly co-workers", "partners", and formally married (maybe?). But at least they seem to agree that the pair is no longer estranged and according to Anderson "closer than [they've] been before."
Check out the promo to decipher the meaning for yourself:
There are separate mentions of sex, a date, and handcuffs. So after 25 years, it appears that progress is finally being made. But in the case of Mulder and Scully's relationship it seems like the truth is NOT out there...yet.
Season 11 of The X-Files premieres January 3, 2018, on FOX.
