If you watch Supergirl, then you know that Season 1 ended with the discovery of a Kryptonian pod with a mystery occupant inside it. If you don’t watch Supergirl, well, Season 1 ended with the discovery of a Kryptonian pod with a mystery occupant inside it.
Before you guys read on, be aware that what’s below could be considered spoilers, albeit uncomfirmed ones. So treat this as a RUMOR for now.
Last week, Vampire Diaries and Containment actor Chris Wood was cast in the mystery role of an established DC Comics character for the second season of Supergirl, who was confirmed to be the person inside the pod. And, according to Bleeding Cool, that character is most likely to be, wait for it: Mon-El!
In the DC Comics, Mon-El arrived on Earth in a rocket much like the one Kal-El arrived in, and was mistaken for a Kryptonian due to a good old-fashioned bout of amnesia and young Superboy's desperate need not to be alone. The character was then revealed to be no Kryptonian but a Daxamite, a race that possesses most of the same powers Kryptonians have, with the exception that they are weak to lead instead of Kryptonite.
The character has often been associated with the Legion of Super-Heroes (a team from 1000 years in the future) of which he was a member and since the Legion is being set up in the Arrow-verse, his arrival could be a definitive step in that direction. One of the character’s flight-rings was even seen in an episode of Supergirl, displayed in Superman’s (played by Teen Wolf's Tyler Hoechlin in the upsoming season) Fortress of Solitude. Bleeding Cool also posits that Mon-El's arrival gives the show some interesting new options, including a potential love interest for Kara (Melissa Benois).
What do you guys think? Do you also believe Mon-El is the one in the Kryptonian pod?
