Despite an acting career spanning over two decades, Natalie Portman hasn’t done a lot of period films (she was in Goya’s Ghosts and The Other Boleyn Girl), but she’ll next star in a period ghost drama titled Planetarium, and we have a trailer.
Portman will be headlining (as well as speaking in French) the movie from director Rebecca Zlotowski (Grand Central) alongside Yoga Hosers’ Lily-Rose Depp (daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis) and French actor Emmanuel Salinger (Blood on the Docks).
Set in 1930s France, Portman and Depp play two sisters who “…are believed to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts. They cross paths with a visionary French producer while performing in Paris.”
While we sadly don’t see any signs of ghostly activity per se, this one looks to dig into the idea of mediums and whether or not they can see/talk to spirits.
Planetarium is slated to open in New York on Aug. 11, and in Los Angeles on Aug. 18.
