It’s been a while since NASA truly captured the attention and imagination of a nation, and a new documentary is digging into why that is — and where the space agency is heading next.

The first trailer for the documentary Fight For Space has dropped, featuring interviews with scientists like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye, and astronauts such as Jim Lovell, discussing NASA’s history and where future missions might take us. The film looks back at how the Space Race in the 1960s inspired Americans to study math and science, pushing the U.S. ahead of any other country when it came to space exploration. The doc goes in-depth with experts, and digs up restored footage from the National Archives, to paint a picture of NASA’s history and future.

If you’re a space geek, the interviews and subjects here could be a hot ticket. NASA stands in a precarious position right now, with a whole lot of pressure on its Mars initiatives. This looks to be a fascinating peek behind the curtain with a rocket ship full of context.

Fight For Space arrives in theaters and on-demand May 19.
