A new science-fiction thriller is coming to Netflix, but don't worry, it doesn't have the word "Cloverfield" in its title despite starring Lizzy Caplan in a key role. The streaming service has nabbed the Ben Young-directed Extinction from Universal Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie stars Michael Peña (Ant-Man) as Peter, a man who must protect his family when an otherworldly force invades Earth. Caplan (Now You See Me 2) plays his wife Alice, and Mike Colter (Luke Cage) plays David, likely a friend of the couple.

Young described the film to THR as revolving around "a guy trying to redeem himself within his family in the midst of an alien invasion."

Emma Booth (Gods of Egypt), Israel Broussard (Happy Death Day), and Lex Shrapnel (Thunderbirds) are also part of the cast.

While yanked from Universal's lineup of forthcoming films in November, Extinction will call Netflix home later this year. The screenplay was co-written by Spenser Cohen, Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and Brad Kane (Fringe).
