Castlevania is coming to Netflix next week, and we’ve heard nothing of the voice cast for the animated series. Until now.
Producer Adi Shankar (Dredd) took to YouTube yesterday to finally reveal the cast list for the series based on Konami’s acclaimed NES video games. Shankar made the announcement alongside the Saint of Killers himself, Graham McTavish (Outlander, Preacher) — who will be voicing the Prince of Darkness, Dracula!
The rest of the cast list is an awesome who’s who of genre actors.
Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy, Captain America: The First Avenger, Berlin) will be playing vampire hunter Trevor Belmont; James Callis (Battlestar Galactica, 12 Monkeys) will lend his pipes to Alucard; Alejandra Reynoso (G.I. Joe: Renegades) will voice Sypha Belnades; Emily Swallow (Supernatural) is Lisa Tepes; Max Headroom himself, Matt Frewer (Orphan Black), will voice The Bishop; and Tony Amendola (Continuum, Annabelle) plays The Elder.
Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.
Penned by comic book writer, novelist and screenwriter extraordinaire Warren Ellis and executive-produced by Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar, Castlevania will begin streaming on Netflix on July 7.
